At Construction Career Collaborative (C3), safety and integrity are not just principles. They are promises we keep to every worker, contractor, and owner who participates in a C3 project. As part of our commitment to building a safe, skilled, and sustainable craft workforce, we’ve updated our credential verification and compliance procedures to ensure every jobsite upholds the highest standards of accountability.
These updates are more than internal protocols. They are contractual obligations set forth by project owners and must be enforced consistently across every trade and worker on-site. Here’s what you need to know and why it matters.
Why the Change?
In recent months, we’ve seen a rise in unverifiable OSHA certifications submitted to our system. While most of these cases are unintentional, even a small number can compromise project compliance and, more importantly, jobsite safety. That’s why we’ve reinforced our credential verification process. The intent is not to create more work, but to ensure every worker on a C3 project is properly credentialed and every owner can trust in our standards.
Key Updates You Should Know
1. Uploading Both Sides of the OSHA Card Is Now Required
The back of the OSHA card includes essential verification details such as the issuing OSHA Education Center and a QR code. Without it, we can’t confirm authenticity. Plastic cards issued after March 2016 contain these features. Older paper cards require direct contact with the original outreach trainer, which adds time and complexity to the process.
2. 90-Day Certificate Expiration and 60-Day Upload Window
If an OSHA certificate on file is over 90 days old, it must be followed by uploading the full OSHA card (front and back) within 60 calendar days of notice. This policy helps us maintain real-time compliance and streamlines audit processes.
3. Grace Periods to Ease Transitions
We understand changes like these require time. That’s why we’ve built in a grace period. The 60-day clock to upload your card only starts once the certificate has been officially flagged by C3. We're committed to offering hands-on support every step of the way.
Your Compliance, Our Commitment
We know these changes may feel like an extra step, but they’re designed to reduce delays, simplify verification, and protect your team in the long run. To support our Accredited Employers and workforce partners, C3 offers:
- One-on-one “Database Refresher” sessions
- Monthly C3 Safety Committee meetings
- Quarterly Accredited Employer meetings
These are not just compliance check-ins. They’re opportunities for peer collaboration, updates on organizational policies, and shared learning across the industry.
What If There’s an Issue?
If a worker has lost their card or only has partial documentation, C3 will assist in navigating the replacement process. If older credentials lack QR codes, we’ll work with the issuing trainer directly. This may involve the worker and take more time. Our goal is not to exclude anyone but to uphold fairness and safety through verified documentation.
Data Protection Matters
We treat every piece of documentation with care. Our credential database is secured with encrypted storage and strict access controls. Only authorized personnel involved in verification and compliance can view uploaded materials. They are used exclusively for project compliance.
Built on Trust, Backed by Process
Compliance at C3 is more than checking a box. It is a visible commitment to every project owner, workforce participant, and trade partner. By reinforcing our verification process, we’re keeping our promise to help build the kind of workforce our industry and community can be proud of.
If you have questions or would like help updating your credentials, please contact our team or join an upcoming Accredited Employer or Safety Committee meeting.
Together, we’re not just raising the bar. We’re setting the standard.
