Debi Jordan
Debi Jordan is Executive Director of Workforce & Community Development at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, where she leads the college’s Center for Workforce & Community Development. The College launched the Center in January 2013, to expand its services to business, industry, and the community.
Baytown/Mont Belvieu is in the epicenter of billions of dollars in capital expansions in the petrochemical industry. These expansions translate into tens of thousands of jobs. With huge opportunities come challenges, and Ms. Jordan serves on several local and regional workforce initiatives to meet these challenges.
In June 2013, she was asked to lead the Community College Petrochemical Initiative, a collaborative effort among the nine Gulf Coast community colleges funded by a $1.5 million ExxonMobil investment. She also partners on workforce initiatives with East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA), Economic Alliance Houston Port Region, Greater Houston Partnership UpSkill Houston, Gulf Coast Petrochemical Information Network and Baytown/West Chambers County Workforce Preparedness Partnership, and serves on the Goose Creek CISD Steering Committee for Career & Technical Education and the Global Business Academy.
Ms. Jordan has been an owner/partner in a small business since 1988, and began her career at Lee College as a Business Consultant in the College’s Small Business Development Center. She moved to Institutional Advancement and led the team’s efforts in business and industry partnerships and workforce grants. Her role expanded to Director of Workforce and Economic Development where she served until she assumed leadership of the Center. Ms. Jordan graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from McMurry University and later received professional licenses in real estate and insurance.
